    The Saudi Accreditation Center grants the first accreditation certificate in the field of medical laboratories to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital’s laboratory

    The Saudi Accreditation Center granted the accreditation certificate to the laboratory of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Madinah of the Ministry of National Guard. The accreditation covers the activity of medical laboratories in accordance with the international standard ISO 15189.

    It is the first accreditation for medical laboratories operating in the government sector, and Saudi AJAL laboratory obtained the first accreditation certificate for medical laboratories in the private sector.

    The accreditation of the two laboratories came after evaluation of the technical and administrative competences of the staff, the availability of adequate quality control and assurance procedures, the existence of appropriate practices in sampling and preservation, and the availability of appropriate equipment and environment for the tests.



    These accreditations are the first granted by the Saudi Accreditation in the field of medical laboratories, in the both sectors governmental and private in accordance with the ISO15189 standard related to the requirements for accreditation of medical laboratories. These accreditations give confidence in the work of medical laboratories and improving their ability to issue accurate and validity of results. ISO15189 is the basic standard for international accreditation bodies to accredit medical laboratories and verify their technical competence, which contributes to the acceptance of laboratory results between different bodies.

    It is worth mentioning that the accreditation of the Saudi Accreditation Center for the laboratory of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital and the Saudi Laboratory of AJAL came from the center's mission based on providing innovative and reliable accreditation services and its vision to reach the Quality Infrastructure in the Kingdom to the top ten countries globally by 2030.
